Florida Gets It Right – Study Shows Childhood Obesity Rates Declining

Yippee!!  A new report shows a national decline in childhood obesity, and for once, Florida is not at the bottom of the barrel!  In fact, the biggest declines were in Florida, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey and South Dakota. Each saw their obesity numbers fall at least 1 percentage point.

This news is cause for celebration and offers us encouragement to keep going.  We are doing some things – a lot of things- right.  With strong local partners like Florida Hospital’s Healthy 100 Kids and Nemours’ Preschool Program “5-2-1-Almost None”, and other community partners’ and parents’ efforts, we are finally seeing the fruits (and veggies) of our collective labor.  Click here to read the full report.
