For the last 63 years (talk about tradition!), the city of Winter Park has brought the community together with the Annual Winter Park “Ye Olde Hometown” Christmas Parade. And every year it attracts even more people – this year nearly 50,000 attended!
As families and friends lined Park Avenue with fold-out chairs and coffee cups in hand, the spectacle of marching bands, dance troupes, boy scouts and decorated floats with nativity scenes created a moving Christmas pageant for all to enjoy.
But the most beautiful sights were not the decorations or sparkling lights – it was the coming together of so many different people in our community. From eight to eighty, the parade delighted children and their grandparents alike, and helped spread the pure joy of the season.
And Healthy Central Florida helped add a dose of fun and health to the parade with our Walk n’ Roll elementary school parents and children walking together; Walk90 participants counting steps; and Blender Bike riders making pedal-powered smoothies, which we handed out for the crowd to sample. Now that’s active fun!
Thanks to everyone who walked or watched this happy Winter Park tradition – especially the Winter Park Fire Department who helps our with our HCF Fire Truck. Happy Holidays to all!
