Which community has the most sole (and soul)? The one with the most walkers in the first Mayors’ Sole Challenge! In the continued effort to make Winter Park, Maitland and Eatonville the healthiest communities in the nation, Healthy Central Florida is holding their first community-wide challenge. Mayors’ Bruce Mount, Eatonville, Howard Schieferdecker, Maitland and Ken Bradley, Winter Park, invite you to join their community team for a heart-healthy 30-minute fun walk.
The 1.5 mile route is scenic, easy and just the right length for kids, moms with strollers, grandparents – and everyone in between. That’s the idea – bring the whole family, join your neighbors and friends and come start “Walktober” with a fun heart-healthy walk.
In addition to the walk, there will be singing (Macedonia Choir – reason enough to attend), entertainment (surprises), and an old-fashioned celebration of community and health. Bring your friends, family, kids and colleagues for this friendly community competition. The community who brings out the most walkers will win a cash prize for their community – and bragging rights!
The fun takes place on October 6th from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. with the Mayors’ Walk from 8:30 – 9:00 AM at the Stage in Central Park in Winter Park (236 N. Park Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792). There will be FREE food, t-shirts, entertainment and other great giveaways like pedometers, wristbands and more. Free health screenings will also be offered by Florida Hospital and Centra Care.
To add a little soul to the sole fest, the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Choir will be performing, so get there early to hear this remarkable choir. The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Choir is one of the leading choirs in Central Florida. Their powerful and beautiful voices will lift your soul up and get your soles moving!
It’s all free and all fun – so join us in Central Park and show your community spirit! Spend a fun Saturday morning getting healthy and getting to know your neighbors. Does your community have the most sole?
